Motivation is tricky. Each of us are motivated differently. Some of us want praise, some want gifts, some want time off, and some want more challenge. The key is to find out what motivates each person. How do yo do that? Ask them.
One common roadblock to motivation is looking at a task as if it is impossible. It is so big and complex, so we can’t imagine completing it. A good trick is to break it into small tasks. Then we tell ourselves, “Oh, we can do that!” Taking that small step is usually just enough to get us going.
It is also very important to recognize your accomplishments as a team. Many times we finish a project and quickly move on to the next. Take a little time to give yourself praise and talk about what went well. This positive feeling will help motivate you for the next project.
